Because King hasn't been shown to have Conqueror's Haki. He just recognized it in Zoro.

Meanwhile, Kidd and Law are damn near death trying to fight Big Mom, and keep in mind that Kidd (at least) has Conqueror's haki but can't seem to use it at all like Luffy or even Zoro. Luffy's plot armor haki is of the highest levels.

Yeah, but Luffy is the only one that we know of that has been trained by one of the strongest in the world. He has been gradually growing at Oda's convenient pace, but it's still logical. Luffy has always been one to grow while getting his ass kicked by someone considerably stronger and then he still doesn't catch up to his opponent. He barely manages to grow enough during battle to win.
This formula isn't anything new. It's going to be the final time he'll be able to use this formula though. This is basically the pinnacle of strength in OP judging by the whitebeard vs Roger fight.

Dat last part. Ya that's the ace up Oda's sleeve. After Luffy fully master conquer haki it will be his gomu gomu devil fruit. Fighting Doflamingo and Katakuri gave him some advanced lessons. I don't think anyone can teach that to him and usually (for certain people) when things mess up or your life is on the line is when you learn the best. Awaking his devil fruit concept was explained by Doffy so Luffy will just have to figure it out on his own.
