Btw the San (you said your people are from Jamaica)
I want your opinion...

Are you black, Black, or both?

Same for you DM (as a US citizen who lives abroad)

I suspect DM and I will agree.... And San will disagree.

I don't think I capitalize black when I write it, but apparently, that is the thing to do now at the same time though you're not supposed to capitalize 'white'.

It's all dumb.

What are you talking about I'm black, both parents are black Jamaicans born in Jamaica, grew up in Canada. Is this about Kamala Harris? I consider her black, she can claim black and Indian. She's obviously makes black convenient when she wants to and Indian when she wants to, she's a fake. The Republicans will catch major L's saying she's not black though. Call her disingenuous and fake instead.

Going back to listen to Katt Williams interview again after the Diddy.

Yes, this has to do with Kamala.

So my take...
San is Black (race) but not black (culture)..he's Canadian and/or Jamaican
DM is Black (race) and black (culture).
I am both. Black (race) and black (culture).

Though both of us are kinda removed on the culture aspect. Him for geographical reasons, me for socio-economic.

I think that is true for every place/country/culture/people though. If DM was born and raised in Japan (because say his parents were military). He would not be Asian (race) but he would be Japanese (culture). Puerto Ricans make a big deal of J Lo being Nuyorican and not a real PR from the island. Dominicans make a big deal to say they aren't Black (race - they are wrong) but they mean black (culture). For some reason, I think of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The entire premise of that series was about the difference between race and culture. The Banks family were all Black...buuuut only Uncle Phil, Will, and Vivian were black; their children were not.

People use the two interchangeably and they are not interchangeable. Kamala isn't trying to garner votes because of her Black race...she's pretending to "deserve" them because of her black culture...but she isn't a part black culture. It's why she does Breakfast club interviews and talks about smoking weed, listening to Snoop and Tupac. She washed sooo mnay collard greens. She eats so much bacon. THAT's how she views black culture. It's why Hillary said she has hot sauce. Or Nancy wore kente cloth. Why Joe said, vote for me or you're not black [ie turn in your black card] . Nothing to do with race. All to do with (their vision of black culture). We're all stereotypes and caricatures to them - and we lap it up.

Yes, she went to a HBCU. But she is trying to regurgitate nonsense she learned/saw around her there. When Black people say we should vote for her...they are saying she is like us because she has a similar culture (not because of race. I guarantee those same Black people would not vote for a Thomas Sowell, Larry Elder, Candace Owens, Coleman Hughes, Ben Carson, etc etc etc). She does not have similar cultural experiences to us. Barack was the same - he grew up in Indonesia and Hawaii. He is a Black man, but he isn't black.

Also: black =/= African-American. Completely different things.
Also, also: black culture =/= Pan Africanism. black culture is strictly American black culture. Pan Africanism is the celebration of contributions of melanin to the world (arts, science, music).

Random: Is this my equivalent of gender/sex?

No because gender and sex were essentially the same until 5 minutes ago and it wasn't until demons like John Money started experimenting on kids that the separation started.

But I get what you are saying. I also agree that black culture is specifically American black culture.

My dad came to America at 5 from the West Indies and so he did not grow up in a black culture house. However he grew up in The Bronx so is environment outside was a black culture environment but even then he didn't absorb all of that culture due to his upbringing.

My mom's family is originally from South Carolina so that's as black culture as it gets but apparently my grandparents were "classy" black folk so they didn't tolerate what is considered black culture now.

Basically I am only half "Foundational Black American" so I only get half the reparations.

And I recently had a thought about Kamala. I don't think she had ever specifically stated that was black, just that her dad was from Jamaica.

She just let everyone assume she was balck and never corrected it. Jamaicans can be Indian, Asian, white and black.

But even if she is part black, I agree with you that she doesn't share the culture at all. She was raised by her Indian mother and in Canada. She was always Indian until 2020, she is culturally Indian.

I wouldn't even call it black culture, but black American culture. Because when you say black, you could he talking about everyone that's black.
Saying that it's black culture for that reason is wrong. It's black American culture.
Any other black race out there doesn't have the same culture you have. In fact the culture black people have here is far from close to what you guys have there.
The black people here are far closer to their roots (country of forefathers origin).

That's my point. black culture IS American black culture and only American black culture. But saying all of that is redundant and unnecessary.

People from Senegal are not black; they are Senegalese. People from Nigeria are not black; they are Igbo or Yaroba. The 1st and 2nd generation African Blacks/African Americans that I know don't even call themselves black.

As a matter of fact... They don't even look at black Americans as black "brothers/sisters". We're white to them. Romanticizing that we are all one people is something American Blacks do... And stereotyping us because of skin color is something American Whites do. As far as I know, there is no "black" Ghanian culture. They are Ghanaians. There is no "black" Somalian culture. They are Somalians. Maybe there is a difference for South Africans. I personally don't know any.

IMO, "black" is strictly American black culture. It has to do with us being stripped of our ancestral identity as a consequence of chattel slavery.

Pan Africanism is the concept of ignoring the present and saying ANYONE with African HERITAGE (known or unknown) is part of that brotherhood/community.

To me.. That's kinda pointless as well. I wouldn't lump all Whites, Hispanics, or Asians into one group past surface level skin color. But people are determined to do it with Blacks.

100% agree.

It's funny, living in Japan really makes it clear that this American idea of lumping people together who look similar is really stupid.

If you said to my wife or any other Japanese person that they part of the "Asian community" they would look at you like you have 3 heads and go, "WTF are you talking about? I'm Japanese."

The idea that they have something in common with Koreans, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc just because they share so similar facial features doesn't even register in their brain.

Outside of America, people see me as just American, as that is the most defining feature.

Yeah, but you can't go denying them of their blackness just because they're "real" Africans haha.
So who is who. I see it as them being dark chocolate black on the outside and black on the inside. Black Americans are more like Bounty's (don't know if you guys have bounty over there. It's a chocolate outside with coconut on the inside). Black on the outside, but more white on the inside haha.
And before you start on attacking me. Think about it. Why didn't y'all ancestors keep their culture intact.
I'm originally from Türkiye. Didn't grow up there, but I still identify and see myself as Turkish decent. And we've been here for 3 generations. The 3rd generation is still as Turkish as the first.
Circumstances were different for you guys I guess.
Slavery fucked up every sense of self identity them Africans had while being shipped to the us

Candace Owens looking into Kamala's ancestry on the Jamaican side, pretty hilarious about the fake grandmother. I don't know if this is true, watching now lol.

Candace has gotten crazier and crazier as time has gone on

I can't think of any conspiracy where she was right...but I can agree with the principles of some of her stances.

She's gonna get Alex Jones'd one of these days

Edit: I don't get robocalls about my cars' extended warranty anymore. Instead I get countless text messages about the democrats wanting to ban my menthol cigarettes (...more black stereotypes)

There aren't many anime IMO, that were as good as Naruto pre shippuden. Shippuden was good, but not as good as the beginning

Watched the 2009 ASTRO Boy movie with my son, enjoyed it much more than the last time I watches it. The animation ages like fine wine too, holds up or exceeds current movies. My son loved it and what's cool is we watched the 80's ASTRO Boy show and he loves that too. One of my earliest and favorite anime shows.I would like to see a couple more sequels of ASTRO Boy now.

In the 80's show I found interesting that the futuristic world was set in 2030, which is not too far from now. We will probably have flying cars by then (eVTOL) so that part was right but not the futuristic world they envisioned. Not that we couldn't, I think if humanity had focus all their energy on only becoming a self sufficient utopia then we would be there in 6 years.

Even if Shippuden isn't as good, the characters, relationships and the feels in the anime are just so much better than most shonen if not all fight shonen. Only one I would put above Naruto are HxH and Dragon Ball.

IMO, One Piece up until EL/W7 is amazing as well, it's just that at this point, the anime kind of caught up with the manga so the pacing went to absolute shit. The Manga also started to really stretch out as well after the time skip unfortunately, but I still enjoy it

I enjoy it as well, but nevertheless it doesnt come close to Naruto. One piece isn't really character driven, but more adventure and lore

I liked Naruto the most out of the Big 3. Mostly because the world was "grounded" and it had a "hard" magic system. Post time skip - it threw all of that out of the window because of Friendship no Jutsu and I R Kyuubi powerups. (I was the guy who started the Naruto bashing thread on NM - people lost their minds).

One Piece has always had a "soft" magic system. Anything is possible. But One Piece's world building is so much better than Naruto's.

Bleach was just so damn stylish and flashy. Plus the Aizen reveal was one of the biggest reveals of a generation.

It took a while before I realized that Bleach is my favorite of the Big 3 but I also agree that Naruto fell off a cliff post-time skip.

And yeah, One Piece has better world-building but the main characters are fundamentally the same throughout the series. Granted Naruto used Friendship No Jutsu often but characters did change significantly. Gaara is probably the best example. And Naruto also gave us THE GOAT:
