Good chapter. There is no other manga right now that I will want to religiously read on a weekly basis other than One Piece. It used to be the big 3. When this is all said and done, I don't know.

So does this Boar guy have a better defense than Kaido or is there some gimmick at work here?

I doubt it. IIRC, Kaido was drunk at the time.
He ate 99% of Luffy's attacks until Gear 5.
