Not an ass pull, looks like Luffy awakened his DF? If so I'm happy perfect and appropriate timing! Or just a reincarnation of Joy Boy, either way is fine because we were bound to know more eventually.

I'd rather Joy Boy somehow just be using Luffy's body as opposed to him being Joy himself. Because it's been 20+ years of One Piece and over 1000 chapters and there hasn't ever been a hint of this.

I think it’s more of a title given to the person capable of hearing the voice of all things. It’s not that he’s reincarnated, but he’s the inheritor of the will of the original Joyboy. This series has always dealt with inheriting wills

Good point, I think you are on to something. Cause Roger could hear all things if I'm not mistaken, or at least it was implied.

Yes he could. If Roger didn't die he would've been the successor I think.
But then there's the devil fruit thing. We know there's something important about Luffy's fruit. We just don't know what it is yet.
Shanks one of the strongest people on the planet did go through a lot of trouble stealing it from the marines.
Whatever it is we'll see what happens in 2 weeks.
