Re: There we go

Re: There we go
Just watched ep 1 of Bel-Air (new Fresh Prince show). I must say it has either met or exceeded my expectation. I like the updated and real world adaption so far based on 1 episode.
Also, media still pushing a likely war with Russia and Ukraine, Hope it doesn't happen but nothing will surprise me.

Re: There we go
The media always have their narratives, but this isn't some manufactured crisis for likes, retweets and ratings even though I wholeheartedly understand the temptation to immediately think in those terms. The tendency to assign the legacy media with supreme influence over international events vis a vis; conflicts embedded in decades of historical and generational dilemmas coming to a head, is a sad byproduct of the superficiality of isolationist thinking.
It doesn't take even the most gullible media apologist to read the tea-leaves.
Russia has mobilized nearly 200,000 troops to the Ukranian border and neighboring Belarus, has declared by magical fiat the independence of the break-away regions occupied by Russian backed separatists, crossed the border into these territories with armored vehicles, troops and artillery under the laughable pretext of "Peacekeepers", declared the inextricable connection between Russia and Ukraine -thereby in effect, denying Ukrainian sovereignty - and has refused all diplomatic remediation.
Parting with Ukraine after the fall of the soviet empire has always been a stain on the soviet/Russian apparatchik and no one has taken it more personally than Putin. No other former soviet constituent has meant more to Russian state identity than Ukraine, and they were never going to leave that country to it's own devices. Crimea was the first salvo, this is the second more substantive encroachment.
The historical implications here are far too complex to touch upon here with any degree of adequacy(and quite frankly, I couldn't be bothered)
Make no mistake, there is nothing "Likely" about this conflict. It has already begun, albeit surgically and incrementally. Putin isn't playing games, nothing is without strategy or heavy consideration and barring a miracle, a full scale war is imminent.
The media ratcheting up fear is of course to be expected and right on message, but don't confuse supplemental embellishment for synthetic manipulation.
It's happening, and there doesn't appear to be a damn thing anyone can do about it at this juncture; the die is cast.
That being said, I'll gladly eat my words if he simply packs up and goes home........but I would sooner believe rainbows will shoot about of my ass after munching on five pounds of Lucky Charms, before I ever entertain such a wishful and jejune fantasy.
Re: There we go
Perfectly said as usual @Cane. We have our drama teacher using Emergency Act meant for real war against truckers when a real one is under way, smh. Maybe Trudeau knew it was imminent and wanted to practice ahead of time (sarcasm, he's not that bright).
I think Biden should send that guy wearing a skirt that DM posted for negotiations. I think Putin will definitely listen to him, he may respect and fear him as well (sarcasm again).

I love how blue check marks on Twitter are just shocked that under a "respectful president" war has broken out because mean tweets were supposed to start wars.
Also, people seem to forget 2014, when Joe was the VP during a time when the US decided to dive its hands into Ukraine to install a leader they preferred.

This conflict is so powerful that it retroactively went back a year to cause the current problems in the US.
Or, it could be the fact that they shut down the economy and pumped more money into the economy in two years than ever seen prior.
Check out this interview by Scott Horton. Interesting points that you won't hear about

That is why I posted that podcast episode. What Putin is doing isn't right but it makes sense given the geopolitical situation. NATO is right up on Russia's ass and you expect them to just be cool with that?San Goku wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 8:57 pm Pro-Russian argument on IG of a picture of NATO occupation around Russia.

Daycare germs are fun.
It doesn't matter where NATO is, it's not in Russia. Those countries can ally with whoever they want. Even if every country that bordered Russia allied together, that doesn't give Russia the right to invade anyone. Putin has always wanted Ukraine back, Obama softballed him for his first invasion, Trump just left and let him do whatever he wanted, and Biden's bulking up everywhere but Ukraine. Russia's going to hurt in the short term from the sanctions, but that's obviously an acceptable trade to Putin if he can walk away with Ukraine.
Inflation is high because people went from not buying things at all to buying things all at once. It's high all over the world - it's not (just) our policies. Look at SEC filings - company profits are rising faster than inflation + typical growth. They're not charging more because their costs are going up, they're charging more because they can. Once demand settles back down inflation will go with it. Just look at gas prices - the price per barrel of oil isn't even close to the highest it's ever been. It's just a bunch of companies realizing they can charge way more for the same product and blame inflation.

Re: There we go
Who said anything about him having the right to? That's never stopped anyone. It certainly never stops the US government from dropping their asses all over the world. The reason the NATO border matters though is because if I recall there was an agreement to keep the NATO border where it was back when USSR fell and to not expand it that far. But of course, they lied, big shock, I know.xandorxerxes wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 5:42 am Daycare germs are fun.

I'm also not defending Putin, I'm just pointing out that machinations made years before this set him up to make these kinds of moves. He wants to secure a "Russian Empire", especially in the face of having an economy with a GDP equivalent to that of Florida, meaning Russia isn't really that much of an economy on the main stage. Think of it like this, if Latin America (minus Mexico) were hostile to the United States in the way that the relationship between NATO and Russia is and these Latin American alliances started creeping their way into Mexico the US would crush that shit before they ever even approached the border. So you expect Russia to just be like, "Oh, this is fine." Putin is WRONG but let's not act like the States wouldn't start also acting in their own interest if the same thing happened to them.
The West also cut off its nose to spite its face, particularly in Europe as their failure in energy policies has caused them to be heavily dependent on Russian oil, and even the States shares in this dilemma though not to the same extent. Biden cuts off the Keystone XL pipeline which would've had us getting much cheaper oil from Canada AND this doesn't even mention the oil access we have but don't use because we're afraid of Greenpeace and a slightly autistic Nordic girl. (oversimplification).
Now how is this fixed? Well, I don't think it will be, and I think Russia will take Ukraine unfortunately, whether he continues after that is unknown but he may be happy just taking a big ass chunk of the country if not the whole thing. I know the media and the politicians on both sides are trying to gin up Americans to fight for Ukraine but I honestly think most Americans don't want any part of it. Obviously, no direct conflict is going to happen as the risks are too great for that, but even a proxy war where they essentially fund Ukraine in fighting back is something people don't want and I don't blame them. Americans are tired which is why people like Ben Shapiro's trash foreign policy views are something I can never get behind.
I don't fucking know, all I know is that this shit sucks for Ukraine but I can't be all like, "Yeah America...get involved because that always makes things better."

Re: There we go
If I was the Hunter x Hunter narrorator commenting on Sergey's exchange with Putin it would go like this:
And in that split second Sergey's defense mechanism produced a rare nen ability that allowed him to slow time down and see a bit into the near future. This was because he was faced with certain death. He seen his wife, children and his self assassinated the following morning. As time began to speed up again he changed what he had planned to say and started to stutter his words. Sergey knew his colleagues that said they would back him once he got up were no longer reliable. As Putin told Sergey to take a seat, he released his new nen ability and wet his pants.
