There we go
Re: There we go
Killa this is your chance. Sell the house and move somewhere far away and don't tell any of her family where you all moved.

... Oh if only
Re: There we go
Change the address, change the email, change the phone numbers, change everything. And only contact the family through burner phones while giving a different location every time they ask where you are.

Maybe it’s old and I never opened it.
So I’m thinking about asking out my 48 year old coworker, (I’m 27) I know she’s into me, I just don’t know what I’d do with her. I’m thinking she wouldn’t want a traditional date with a young guy, but I don’t wanna invite her to a hotel just to have her think I’m being sleezy. Never been with an older woman so gotta admit, I’m intimidated by the idea of having her alone.

If you want more than sex out of it, talk to her about her interests before you ask her out. Or just ask her out for drinks and talk there.Colep924 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 3:20 pm Maybe it’s old and I never opened it.

Deduct a few hundred dollars from your usual amount you send next month as "cleaning expenses." If they bitch about it deduct the same next month ("complaining about free money") until they stop. Wife may veto, though.

Maybe if you want to take $100 away and tell her you'll call it a "toilet cleaning" fee she'll be more amenable...killacross wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 5:04 pm I've wanted to do that several times over the years - - every time they say dumb shit or especially when they DEMAND more money.. Sometimes the museums out here in Chicago have late nights where you can eat and get drinks. And there's also museums like this one here in Chicago.Colep924 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 3:20 pm Maybe it’s old and I never opened it.

Quick observation about politics. Am I the only person that thinks Pete Buttigieg will ultimately go nowhere for many reasons but one big one that nobody talks about is him being gay? He already has basically no black support and I'll tell you straight up, a bunch of black men are not going to vote for a gay man for president. Also, I see others not doing it as well, not because they are homophobes but because I'd imagine people will think it wouldn't look good for America on the world stage. America has to deal with many countries that aren't the kindest to gay people. I suspect he'd have trouble getting respect from leaders of those countries. Try dealing with Saudi Arabia when they laugh about you either giving it to a dude in his butt or taking it from a dude in your own butt.
I know this sounds really un-PC but I think it's actually a thing.
Completely unrelated. I watched Parasite last night. It was good and it definitely is NOT a "Fuck rich people" film. The film is VERY Korean and I think certain themes flew over the heads of those in the west. The film has themes that deal with wealth and the wealth gap IN KOREA which is a very different situation from the west. The only reason I've been able to catch them is because I've watched a lot of Korean films, one of my best friends lives in Korea and he informs me a lot on the culture AND Japan and Korea have a lot of cultural similarities and a lot of the themes overlap with Japanese culture as well.

I haven't had the chance to watch it yet. I had a second cousin who lived in Korea for many years and loved it.Digital Masta wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 12:09 am Quick observation about politics. I watched 1917 on my way back home from the St. Vincent and loved it, I recommend watching it. I think the praise it's receiving is warranted.
Re: There we go
@killa I'm disappointed in you, I told you from before all this can only be viewed as disrespect at this point. I'm glad they are gone though.
I hung around my in-laws for a couple days straight last week and it wasn't uncomfortable thankfully.

Re: There we go
There's already a story of a Iowa voter trying to change his/her vote - voted for him without knowing he was gay. I don't think he's going anywhere for different reasons, but you're right with the inherent bias. That's what Hillary felt held her back (as opposed to what actually happened... her being Hillary) in 2016, but the bias probably does exist for a woman in general as well. We likely won't have to deal with it until 2024, because I see next to 0 way that Trump doesn't win at the moment, but I also thought the Tea Party was going to disrupt more than it did so maybe the D's aren't as bad off as they seem.Digital Masta wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 12:09 am Quick observation about politics. ----PARASITE----
What are some particularly-Korean examples we might have missed, if you don't mind sharing? I felt like I understood it fairly well, but if there's more nuanced things I missed I'm all for it. I didn't particularly care for the movie overall - spent the whole movie knowing something was going to implode so it was more of a "get to it already" with a complete breaking of my suspension of disbelief once certain plot elements are revealed. I didn't see the other movies up for best picture, but if Parasite won they must not have been particularly great either or they gave diversity bonus points.Digital Masta wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 12:09 am Completely unrelated. When I had just turned 21..I used to mess with this lady who was 60+...she would say
. I'm almost 3x your age.. So I don't know if that's 3x +/-
She took very good care of herself and was a gym nut.
She had some really good pussy....and was a lot of fun

The Park Family (the rich family)...due to teaching English in Japan (and my buddy in Korea) we both know those parents. Those kind of parents. Especially the mother. Wealthy, bored and basically dote on their kinds while simultaneously ignoring them. Also throwing money at every problem thinking it will fix things. Having to feel like they have to keep up appearances (God forbid our previous driver says something bad about us). That Asian cultural need to save face.
The really Korean aspect is the fact that in Korea (to a lesser Japan) wealth like theirs makes them unapproachable gods. I don't think many people know that South Korea was essentially a military dictatorship until an incident involving the death and coverup of a college activist in 1987.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_Struggle
Modern Korea has only really been this capitalistic, democracy for 30 years (as opposed to modern Japan which has been around for almost 80 years) and Korea is still a somewhat poor country. Technically Japan is the only true 1st world nation in Asia, you travel outside of Seoul and Busan and the scenery changes drastically in Korea. So wealth is flaunted there... a lot. Also unlike wealthy in the US, Korea is so compact (because everyone is in Seoul) that the wealthy are often seen among the common folk. I mean you don't see the wealthy all that much in America because America is so wide and spread out. You don't really see the super rich out shopping. But in Korea you'll go to a nice mall and see the rich spending it up, laughing it up while their drivers and help service them (something you also don't really see that much in the states), flaunting their wealth for all to see. Compare that with America where a lot of the time you honestly don't necessarily know if someone is rich. There are plenty of very wealthy people in America that go eat hamburgers at some local dive because they love that place. You will NEVER see that in Korea.
As with most countries that originally came from royalty/aristocrat/commoner culture there is a strong caste system still. The Park family like I said...are gods. (SPOILER TAG DOESN'T WORK)Look at how the husband that was in the basement revered Mr. Park.(SPOILER TAG DOESN'T WORK)
Combined with their sempai/kohai culture (which is even stricter than Japan's), talking directly to those people are impossible. My friend was talking about how he was watching a show and they had this rich guy come into a restaurant and he was just berating people and calling them names. Yeah, they do that shit. I joked that a cook might hit you in the face with a pot if you pull that shit in America. Americans are very different, if anything because you have wealth you're more likely to get shit from people as opposed to being revered. Try telling a rich family that their child is a little shit that doesn't act right...yeah, no.
There was a big problem in Korea some years back with the people that run chaebo (large conglomerates) and their kids and how they abuse people and the system (remember they are the gods).
Basically Asian wealth is very different from American wealth. For one, Americans do actually believe (whether accurate or not) that we are one deal away from ultimate wealth. We still culturally strive for that, it's built into our cultural DNA. That isn't the case in Asia. There are those who are untouchable and rich and then the poor common folk and the commoner cannot make it into the wealthy world(remember poor in Korea isn't the same as poor in America. It's worse). Even though people obviously do it, it's still culturally wired into people that it's not possible.
The reason I say it isn't a "fuck rich people" film is that the Park's are not portrayed as bad people. (SPOILER TAG DOESN'T WORK)They are ultimately in a way the victims of the film. They are victims of the Kim's directly and then also the society that created that mindset and gap. The Kim's are also victims of the society that created that mindset and gap as well(SPOILER TAG DOESN'T WORK). They are just rather ignorant, distant rich people. I don't know about the husband but watching the film you know for sure that the wife had never worked a day in her life and likely came from a wealthy family as well. The husband not helping set up for the party and then he has the nerve to tell the woman setting up to do it more quietly because his son is sleeping in the tepee outside...dude was clueless but again you don't associate with the help.
It might be because most wealth in America is self-made wealth but Americans don't have the same walls that separate rich and "common" that Korea does. Despite what politicians and activist like to say, wealthy people (especially those that used to not be wealthy) will easily hobnob with people of a lower socioeconomic status. In Korea...nah.

SPOILER IN CASE YOUR TAGS DON'T WORK
SPOILER OVER
I don't think I'd really pay to see the movie again, though I saw it for free, and I wouldn't call it a 'good' movie either, just... different. I'm also a pretty big cheapskate with my money and my praise for movies and food, so take that as you will.
