Re: Boku No Hero Academia
Trying to figure out where this goes from here...
There's no more bad guy power creep after this unless we're pulling some 'hidden threat' or 'aliens' nonsense, so this arc can't end in a hero's victory. Maybe a pyrrhic one? Endeavor loses (dies?), heroes fall back, etc. Do they go underground? Some new world order with the villains leading? We're nowhere close to the end of the manga, as Midoriya still has like 5-6 more powers to learn and isn't near all-might level yet. Still haven't figured out what AFO gets from Shiragaki, unless he's going to override/consume him/whatever at some point.

Yeah I don’t know man, was thinking along the same lines. Interesting idea about a role reversal between the heroes and villains. It’d be awesome if he could pull that off. Plus, didn’t the doctor say the quirk he was giving Shigaraki was one AFO couldn’t master? Is there another quirk besides AFO that Shigaraki was given? Or did AFO never truly master his own quirk?

Re: Boku No Hero Academia
Just reread 270. I don't recall my original thoughts on it, but it looks like we've got a thing about 'replicating' quirks now. I was never really sure how AFO enabled him to give out quirks at will (or at least I don't remember it), but the doctor gave his quirk to AFO bad guy (don't remember his name either...) who then 'replicated' it back to him. We're also told that AFO bad guy passed AFO to Shiragaki and he himself has a replica of AFO.Colep924 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 1:27 pm Yeah I don’t know man, was thinking along the same lines. Reread the last few chapters too... lots of details I missed during my initial read. Nothing huge, but there's a lot of detail in the shots that I didn't pay attention to before.
Re: Boku No Hero Academia
I dont think we ever got a name for AFO. Im pretty sure his quirk lets him not only take quirks, but also give them to others. The s
Doctor is just a genius capable of making duplicate quirks.

Re: Boku No Hero Academia
Guess we got somewhat of an answer - Midoriya's totally outclassed, which I'm glad to see. I'm more surprised Shiragaki can use so many powers so soon, but his 'infancy' stage of AFO will let the giant contingent of heroes have a shot.
That said, we haven't seen much from Redestro's group or the giant guy since he appeared at Toga.
Hawks is down, Endeavor is struggling, unless they get some of those suppression bullets that somehow avoided Shiragaki's destruction or we see a lot more heroes than we've seen so far, I don't see this ending well.

Re: Boku No Hero Academia
I was afraid Midoriya would’ve somehow been the one to “stop” Shigaraki. Good to know that’s not the case, as for Gigantomachia and the others, I imagine that’ll be how Shigaraki avoids capture.

Waiting on the new chapter, but missed your reply before - I wouldn't be surprised if Midoriya still has some pivotal role to play (saving someone/landing a blow at the right moment, etc). I imagine it's not the case, but I'd also be curious if Shiragaki does eventually get OFA and it ends up being his undoing or even creates a singularity event that stops quirks for everyone. That's just wild out of left field speculation though.
Re: Boku No Hero Academia
Well you called Midoriya getting multiple quirks so I wouldn’t count it out. Even All Might at 100%, I just can’t see anyone stopping Shigaraki right now. That decay is just too OP.xandorxerxes wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 2:16 pmWaiting on the new chapter, but missed your reply before - I wouldn't be surprised if Midoriya still has some pivotal role to play (saving someone/landing a blow at the right moment, etc). Re: Boku No Hero Academia
More chaos. This is getting pretty nuts. I guess the Nomus are just there to prevent the "how is Shiragaki winning against an entire hero corp" argument. Or the author having to think up more quirks for other heroes I suppose too.
Re: Boku No Hero Academia
Yeah this is a pretty unpredictable situation, the only thing I know for sure is Midoriya and Bakugo ain’t dying. Starting to think that heroes underground. villains ruling theory you had might come true. I guess we know how the Yakuza drugs managed to survive.
I wonder, did AFO have that strength without using any quirks? If not, Midoriyas gonna have to be significantly stronger than All Might. If AFO was able to compete only using quirks, how strong will Shigaraki be when he’s augmented with multiple quirks like AFO?

I'm thinking Gran Torino may be on his way out - he keeps reminding them they have to dodge/counter instead of duke it out, I'm guessing someone doesn't listen and he bites it in their stead.

Re: Boku No Hero Academia
Seems like AFOs got some serious influence on Shigaraki. I’m guessing he’ll eventually take over his body and become the villain once again. Gran Torino dying definitely seems likely, at the very least, he’s the safe option in terms of killing off a character. But damn..... since when could Bakugo shoot off blasts like that?

Re: Boku No Hero Academia
I hadn't really thought that far ahead on it before, but I can see the 'final fight' being Midoriya vs Shiragaki where Midoriya is supported by all of his predecessors and Shiragaki is hindered by his.Colep924 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 2:31 pm Seems like AFOs got some serious influence on Shigaraki. Re: Boku No Hero Academia
Maybe, I just feel like AFO was built up as this great evil that’s been around for years, it’d be weird if he just gives up his quirk and lets Shigaraki reign. To me his search for a, “successor” was more about finding the perfect body to eventually take over.xandorxerxes wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 9:57 pmI hadn't really thought that far ahead on it before, but I can see the 'final fight' being Midoriya vs Shiragaki where Midoriya is supported by all of his predecessors and Shiragaki is hindered by his.Colep924 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 2:31 pm Seems like AFOs got some serious influence on Shigaraki. Re: Boku No Hero Academia
I think that's certainly plausible (if not probable), but the author has done enough character building for the villains that I have a feeling the story may mirror growth between Shiragaki and Midoriya into their respective quirks. There could also be a big final showdown between the two and once Shiragaki is defeated OH LOOK IT'S AFO/AIZEN, but I kind of hope it doesn't go that route. No problem with AFO being the big bad, just don't want him to take over Shiragaki's body right after a Shiragaki defeat and make a super-long and extensive 'final battle.'Colep924 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 3:23 pmMaybe, I just feel like AFO was built up as this great evil that’s been around for years, it’d be weird if he just gives up his quirk and lets Shigaraki reign. I think you hinted at this before, but the more I think about AFO's character the more I think he just said he passed down the original to Shiragaki. Too many variables, I'd guess that he gave the clone to Shiragaki unless Shiragaki has to have the original to have his body taken over.
Re: Boku No Hero Academia
So is Gran Torino Shigarakis father? Guess you were right about him bitin the bullet.

Re: Boku No Hero Academia
I don't think they've said anything about Torino being more than just close friends with Nana, but when they said "our choice" that does imply something. Nana is the grandmother - she gave up her son Kotaro, Shigaraki's dad.
Not sure how he got so tiny though, he's damn tall in that flashback.
I've been accidentally calling him Shiragaki this entire time, whoops.
Edit: In Chapter 95, they say that her husband was killed. He could have just helped her with the decision.
