My building in NY has been doing everything to get people to still come into the office. Now three people have tested positive. Even this morning they wrote that "X person who works on the 19th floor has tested positive. The floor was deep cleaned the day after he last came into the office, he's been self-quarantining since. We believe our space is safe to use."

I had the same reaction up here when our Premier did the same thing. However, one of my employees changed my mind about it. He put it in context that people are going to be in even more stress so if a bit of booze can take the stress of then let them. I have to agree with that now, if you can't do the normal things in life for an extended period of time then a glass of wine or rum is not a bad thing, I would say it is some what essential.

Having said that, they need to free up the marijuana/ganja if that is the case.

Watch Contagion yesterday, I feel it's an exact copy of real life right now. A bit more to finish though cause I got side track with bbq and baby duty stuff. I don't know why they were recommending people not to watch it on my local radio, its a great movie to watch now.

Also Queen and Slime was a great movie, character were dumb af though.

Say I wanted to become a voice actor and apply for a job. What should I use as a demo? Could be someone heroic and or athletic. Anything that comes to mind of past film, ad or tv that I could do a couple lines of?

No idea why they would say 'don't watch it,' as long as the watcher understands it's a movie and not how things work.

Depends on how the job takes it in. I googled around, and it looks like some of them are walk-in jobs. If someone was taking mail-in demos I imagine they'd post what they want. Is there a job you're looking at? Send me the link and I'll dig up as much as I can on it.

Oh don't misinterpret my post, I applaud the move wholeheartedly.

Despite the fact that I'm not much a drinker anymore, the idea that I couldn't pick up a few spirits to satiate and lift my exponentially sinking ones is frightening as hell.

I just thought it was funny because I live in Kentucky.

Deprive these people of their bourbon and there would be literal riots in the streets.

I just assumed it was because they realized there would be a stream of revenue to the state (NC handles liquors different tho...so only state owned stores can sell liquor -- I dont know about Kentucky)

All sorts of stupid lately, this one's in your neighborhood.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear during a Tuesday press conference announced that all businesses that are not "life-sustaining" will be ordered closed by 8 p.m. Thursday.

<snip>

The governor also said that one of the new 39 cases – the largest jump of confirmed cases in a single day – was a citizen who attended a "coronavirus party."

"We have a positive test from someone who attended a 'coronavirus party," Beshear said. "...We ought to be much better than that."

"It was a group of young adults in their 20s who I guess were thinking they were invincible," Beshear said. "...For those folks who thought 'we'd be all right if we got it,' what about everybody else you've seen?

I work at Cintas on Long Island. We’re staying open cause we supply hospitals with scrubs and shit, but it’s getting scary, a fourth person was just diagnosed.

Stay safe everyone!

I lived in Wuhan last year, so I've been following closely for like 3,5 months almost... The Netherlands are more or less on lockdown like most W-European countries. My girlfriend is safe with her mom in France, I probably won't see her until June lol.

I hope y'all are safe and healthy and are able to stay at home.

Damn that's not good, I have family in Long Island too. At least you are considered an essential business. You are recession proof. You always want to be working and be employed.

I'm in pharma. Our site is making a drug to treat symptoms and my company is making detection kits. Pharma is largely recession proof because it is either private insurance or government programs that pay for our stuff. Typically... Recessions are where they try to weed out the chumps. So in 2008..i heard 13 people were let go in a company of 2500

Saw that presser, I was literally shaking my head when he broke that news.

Good god in heaven the youth of this country is dumber than a bag of hammers wrapped around cellophane that's been coated in K-Y jelly....

Beshear's actually become something of a viral sensation for his daily Coronavirus briefings, some of the memes are pretty funny.

Haven't done any reading into this, just casual glance while I'm at work:
The Senate bill would attempt to help address the immediate economic pain by expanding unemployment benefits and disbursing $1,200 checks to Americans who earn less than $75,000. The payment would be slowly phased out for income above that, though people who earn more than $99,000 would not qualify.
