Sibling is my best guess. Shanks was found on God Valley by roger, so my best guess is Fingarland made a second one once he figured out his baby wasn't there anymore.

There's no real confirmation but yeah a lot of people are guessing that. I think Oda did say in some kind of interview that Shanks was found as a baby by Roger so that at least isn't speculation. But it may very well be Shanks at the end we don't know for sure if he has a sibling

The online theory is that any time the scar isn't shown, it's the other "shanks", and considering that figarland garling when he was young looked exactly like shanks, and that shanks is of the figarland bloodline, the best guess is that there's a sibling or clone that was kept in the holy land and became a holy knight
