you're not fooling anyone...you watch Lil Nas X music vids on repeat

...who knows...maybe the lgbtasdf&^*(#$%# community will buy dozens and dozens of comic books and collectibles and save the comic industry? that's how it works right? <5-10% of the fanbase buys the majority of the merchandise right?
Here is quote of a Youtube comment on my favorite comics commentator/crowdfunding comics success youtubers' latest video talking about this Jonathan Kent thing. But first a little background on this channel:

This guy started his channel back in 2017 to just talk about the sorry state of the comics industry, he had done some comic stuff on his own in the past but nothing big. He's in his 40s, he's a military vet (both army and marines) and is just a normal dude who loves comics (and has terrible taste in movies).

Yet thanks to YT he amassed a following, connected with people (mainly Ethan Van Sciver) in what was dubbed as "comicsgate" (long story) and he basically decided to just start making his own comics.

He has since quit his job, started his own comics publishing company and crowdfunds all this comics with incredible success. He's even gotten to pitch and work in Sylvester on creating an "Expendables Go To Hell" graphic novel. He worked with the previously mentioned Chuck Dixon to write it as well.

Also, speaking of wild success. Ethan Van Sciver was a big time comic artist (incredible artist) and writer for DC (mainly) and Marvel. But a few years back he left DC to do his own thing because he is conservative and very anti-woke. He got shat on by the industry but has since gone on to create a multi-seven figure comics publishing company through crowdfunding his own books. He just sells his own stuff. And whenever he puts out a book he gets a few 100K at least every time. His Cyberfrog work has even generated over a million bucks from a single campaign.

Anyway...here is the quote:
My daughter is bisexual (well, technically, if she was woke, she says she would define herself as pansexual), lives with me, as does her very gay, lesbian partner. I used to be hardcore into comics and due to the crap that has infested comics, I am not into them at all any more. My daughter has thoroughly read and enjoyed most of my issues of comics and wondered why I stopped. I didn't tell her why but simply went out and bought a pile of new a d semi new comics for her to read. Without explaining my positions on anything, she tried to read them. Constantly, I would hear her exclaim, "WTF? What is this garbage?" or "Since when is so-and-so character bisexual? That's just F'jng stupid." or ""WTH, this story has no plot. They aren't doing anything except talking. This is F'ing garbage."

We have had long discussions about them since and her conclusion? Exactly the same as mine. Comics are lost. Story lines and plot no longer exist. Comics have become a platform on which to ONLY virtue signal. BTW, she is 23, is working on a college degree in psychology, and should, by virtue of her sexuality, age, and education, fit in with the woke crowd, but she (mostly) detests it.

She has asked the same questions in our discussions, again without me leading or promoting her. Why then characters gay or bisexual, or why focus on race and skin color, and segregate groups the way they do. Did I mention she is also half First Nations (indigenous for those not in the know) her questions are, "Why turn a character gay if it doesn't advance the plot line, give them a weakness to exploit, give them a new power to utilize against a villain, introduce new characters, or otherwise, in any way, significantly affect the story? Her conclusion is the same as mine and yours. It's ONLY to virtue signal and hold themselves aloft as "a good person." She hates this tokenization as much as I do.

We explained all of this crap to her partner who isn't in to comics at all, and she laughed. She says she has seen this in the gay community for years (she's 8 years older than my daughter) when people with absolutely nothing else of interest going on in their lives try to aim they are bisexual or join LGBT associations to help "advance the cause." She detests those people. Her point? Go get a cause that's relevant to your life, and also, we don't have a cause. We are accepted by most of society now, and those that don't accept us? F them. If they don't like me, too bad for them, I could give two s-hits about the."
Final thoughts, if my daughter can notice this immediately without watching comics channels, or having me mention it, and SHE is bisexual and HATES this, how do these writers expect normies to react. It's all activism, virtue, and publicity that will ultimately fail when comics die. BTW, as a long range trucker, I have travelled widely across Canada and the US, comics have kept me sane through a lot of it, and I know a large number of comics stores across the two countries. Almost all of the owners have seen customers drop comic lines, writers, and characters they love simply because they have noticed how garbage comics now are. Most are also reducing the numbers of new comics they buy because it's just not economically maintainable to buy stock that just doesn't sell. These writers are cutting the trees, stacking the wood, pouring the gas, and lighting the match on their own careers, and in the process, destroying the pleasure millions have taken from comics over the years. I hope and pray they wise up soon, but I think it is too late and they are too up their own asses to smell the crap anymore.

Putting William Shatner in space is pretty fucking epic I must say. Would be cool to see all the Star Trek captains (Next Gen, DS9 and Voyager) go next.

So, I'm listening to Michael Malice interview Jessie Lee Peterson (and apparently Michael was on his show earlier) and every time I hear JLP speak I just think that he has incredibly poignant and insightful points wrapped in outlandish shit. But at the same time, in particular when he speaks on black people I'm like, "Yeeaahh...but he's not wrong."

One of the more insight things I've heard him say a few years ago was regarding racism. Yes, as humans we discriminate in all kinds of ways but in regards to racism, when you really break it down, it's behavior that people hate, not necessarily the race itself. People are (wrongfully) assigning a certain set of behaviors that they hate to an entire group of people and thus hate that group of people. When I first heard it I was like, "Hmm...that's something to think about."

This is sort of mirrors what Daryl Davis experienced when he started befriending KKK members. They opened up to him after they got to know him and they realized that he didn't have those set of behaviors that they thought all black people had.

The Batman trailer...looking fire.

The Flash first look. Yup, I still can't stand Ezra Miller. But that new suit is legit and more Michael Keaton is always a good thing.

The trailer looked good, but I'm still not exactly thrilled with DC's decision to double down on the grittiness and dark tone. The "Dark knight" mystique is an integral part of his character and trails behind with literally every adaptation, but my god they seemed to have dialed it up to eleven.

I'll concede that this is another origin story portraying an even younger batman with all the incumbent flaws of a hero subject to various untrammeled emotions and unpolished tactics(I mean if you have the body armor to do it, then by all means walk down a hallway not giving two shits about gunfire, but it's not exactly the sound strategy of an expert tactician).

I am interested in seeing where Pattinson takes this and how he grows into the character throughout the course of the movie.... but if it's all just Christian bale on steroids; the novelty will have a very short shelf life with me.

Post Script: I couldn't care less about the flash, all I want to see is Keaton wearing the cowl again.

I'm really starting to realize I don't like James Gunn's style. If I were to watch Peacemaker it would be because John Cena does a level of charisma that makes him fun to watch. It's similar to Dwayne Johnson but not nearly on that level because that man has basically maxed out his charisma stats.

R.I.P to Collin Powell. So should he have taken a booster shot too or maybe 10 doses would have been better?

This national divorce and secession narrative is such a lazy copout from a certain segment of the punditry class that is so bereft of ideas, that they have resorted to ginning up populist fever dreams. Setting aside the facile arguments and fallacious reasoning, it doesn't take an expert in these matters to conclude, with relative ease, that all they have is an idea of separation with absolutely no concise or cogent plan to enact, let alone start the process of bifurcating the country into a confederacy of sovereign states wholly independent of each other.

It never once dawned on them what exactly they would be giving up with their wholesale abandonment of the very same federalist principles that created the greatest super power the world has ever seen. No, the superficial and personal allure of dissociating yourself with a liberal/conservative neighbor is the ultimate hook here, more so than the macro implications of a complete rewriting of the national framework, a regression to a more tribal, anathematized way of life that would ultimately lead to conflict.

I didn't immigrate to this country so I could isolate myself on an island(I literally left one...) and coexist only with those who closely approximate my values, shuddering to venture beyond my safe space into difficult to countenance civil engagements because I'm so sick of fighting for commonality. I want to interact with those who disagree with me, I want to try to understand them, even if I fail.

Devoid of that exposure, my opinions would have never undergone the dramatic paradigm shift afforded to them by years of trial and error with differing viewpoints and perspectives pushing back and challenging their prefabricated framework. This homogenized utopia, submitted as a solution to our national disunity, fails to acknowledge the long term effects of such a disassociation. Generations born in cultural bubbles will only see the gross caricatures depicted on nightly T.V screens and one-sided news publications. Demographic fractures will expand, resentment for the other half of the country will reverberate across economic lines, trade wars will ensue, each constituent part will raise armies and militias (as needed to maintain security from the encroachments of neighboring regions) and honestly, what the fuck do you think is going to happen?

You think this will be like Brexit? Brexit was an economic divestment and last I checked, the United Kingdom is still the United kingdom.
This is full scale cultural and geographic separation, and as much as you would love to walk into a Starbucks and not be inundated with the sights and sounds of the gender studies couple talking about their latest dissertation on "Troublesome comedy" of Dave Chappelle, there's far more at stake here than your petty aversions.

Do yourself a favor, read the federalist papers and then tell me you still prefer disunion.
If the reasoning and eloquence of Madison, Hamilton, and jay still doesn't convince you, fine I'll accept that.
But at least expose yourself to the very arguments that cut against what in my estimation seems predicated more on emotional exhaustion, than intellectual contemplation.

So is this a situation where it wasn't really the COVID but more like his underlying condition that got him?

Kinda like how you don't actually die from HIV/AIDS but from the illness you get because of having it?

I haven't checked but I am gonna guess that the vaccine loving media will push his underlying condition as the main cause while the vaccine hesitant media will push that he was fully vaccinated and it did squat.

Hmm...why were we not told about this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lqHdKV8lBc

And our home inspection came back with mostly minor stuff. The major findings are some extensive water damage around the front door (looks like the flashing was installed incorrectly...so rain caused the runoff to eat out the door trim and sill plate - easily fixed in an afternoon by a carpenter) and two GFCI outlets do not work/reset (again, easily replaced by an electrician in an hr).

The other stuff is minor: a slow draining sink, some lifted shingles, a missing dryer vent cover, and missing insulation around the HVAC refrigerant lines

Technically, I have the knowledge, skills, tools, and money to do all of this stuff myself...I could even find the time. My issue is...if I'm spending almost $200k -- you're gonna give me exactly what I want. 0 room for negotiation.

What we've decided is we are going to keep status quo for the 2 units. We are raising rent in March of 2022. That also lets us focus like a laser to get our other house rental ready by Jan 2022. I was doing slow repairs and upgrades when we lived in it...but apparently I was slacking. Now that it is an hr away...it's hard to find the time. I may just use some vacation hours to get it over the hump. Then turning it over to a management company. Should be able to get $1500/month for it easily. There are some houses that are going for more...but with the market -- essentially, if you can afford that in rent -- you could easily afford a mortgage.

Oh -- and after getting back a huge chunk of info. The tenants last signed a lease in 2016. They have been month to month since then. The rent is $650/month. Even at those numbers..it is still a good deal. But the plan is to increase the rent until they leave. When they are gone...hopefully 1 at a time, I'll update the units (I'm estimating $15k in upgrades)...and then increase the rent to $900. New apts in the area are renting at $950+. So for rooms/baths/size -- $900 should still be very appealing. And as long as the tenants are screened appropriately -- should still make a pretty penny. Also, because I'm such a paperwork/data/records nut -- I want to see how the tax implications of it all.

It seems weird for us to be renting...while owning 3 rental properties ourselves. But we just avoid debt at pretty much all cost. As long as housing prices stagnate (they look to be slowing down)...we should be able to buy a personal residence for cash in under 2 years.
