Set up chapter. Hopefully this fight and arc are over by ch 1040. I'm fatigued by kaido and wano...i honestly don't remember everything that's happened here
One Piece 1027
Re: One Piece 1027
I'm in the same boat, though i felt this way with dressarosa and whole cake as well, so once the arc is done I'll go ahead and re-read and see how it rates afterwards
Re: One Piece 1027
Although I want this arc to end I'm getting pumped for the build up epic fight that I think will be delivered.

Yup, same for me but I've been saying it for a while now. As great as Oda is he's always had this damn problem where he seems to drag his arcs on well past the point of efficient story telling. He could get a lot of this done in a shorter amount of time and if he can't do that it shows one of his failings as storyteller.
Re: One Piece 1027
I have mixed feelings, think it’s epic, but I’m definitely ready to move on.

Re: One Piece 1027
I guess my issue is that I don't think this fight will be exciting. I'm tired of Luffy winning outside of his weight class just because the story needs that to happen
When I think back through the story...Water 7 was Luffy's most epic fight to me. Rob Lucchi was barely stronger than Luffy...so Luffy won through grit
The Ace execution arc was probably the most iconic and epic fight (Whitebeard vs the Admirals)....Luffy tried to win with grit and was dealt with appropriately...Whitebeard showed what the power tier was. So now it is the same...Kaido should be up there in strength...but instead, Luffy just gets to fight him 15x and eventually win...oh, and only after everyone else has already fought him 25x...
...and then it still brings back the point I mentioned earlier. Even after ALL of that...Kaido will just sit down quietly instead of take a nap and take EVERYTHING back that he is about to lose. The strawhats would never abandon Luffy after a loss...so why do all the other pirate families?

No no no. That's why we had a TIME SKIP and many references to back stories to training with Reigyleh(sp). Luffy is in the big leagues now but to your point it is a bit suspect that Luffy has been awarded time to defeat a guy like Kaido. He's more the type like you barely escape with your life and leave the island and face him again 2-3 arcs later.

2 years isn't enough to be going toe to toe with one of the strongest people on the planet whose been developing his power FOR DECADES!San Goku wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 2:24 pm No no no. Ya hard to defend that and Kaido is an ogre....but Luffy has strong genes with Garp and Dragon being blood relatives. Plus he has a 'D' in his name.Digital Masta wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 2:45 pm2 years isn't enough to be going toe to toe with one of the strongest people on the planet whose been developing his power FOR DECADES!San Goku wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 2:24 pm No no no.
