Re: Boku No Hero Academia
I'm guessing that's #2 and #3, since they're the ones we don't have any info on if I recall correctly. Standing in the corner I imagine shows an unwillingness to engage at all - even scornfully/hostilely - with izuku at this point.

Maybe they were villains?

Good point. Midoriya leaving UA was a bit unexpected.xandorxerxes wrote: ↑Wed Mar 24, 2021 4:13 amNot sure, but if they were villains #3 goofed up when he passed it to #4 since #4 became a hero.

It was for me too, and in retrospect I feel like I should have expected it. The "I'm dealing with this alone to save my friends" protagonist is a pretty common trope, so I gave myself a little kick for not thinking of it as a possibility. Apparently OFA has to be freely given and can't be forcibly taken, but I can see desirous people being plot points in the future if the information gets out that All-Might's quirk can change people (especially if the information is doctored before release by less-savory types).Colep924 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 24, 2021 12:23 pmGood point. Yeah and that trope screams Deku, can’t believe neither of us thought of that. Seems like that villain run society came to be more or less. I was thinking that traitor plot line probably got dropped but having civilians in UA makes me think it might come up again soon. I always thought it would end up being the lightning kid.xandorxerxes wrote: ↑Wed Mar 24, 2021 4:05 pmIt was for me too, and in retrospect I feel like I should have expected it. Getting some movement going. I'll have to reread the part about how he's holding his body together, but another reminder about his condition implies it's going to come up later.
Re: Boku No Hero Academia
If this is really the final arc I wonder how long all this is gonna take. I still have hopes that this “final arc” will be the end of part one of the story. I guess we’ll see

At this pace... it will be 3 chapters.
Looks like Deku suddenly has all of the powers now?
Re: Boku No Hero Academia
Yeah I don’t even know, and it looks like this next power is gonna be an outright combat ability, maybe even the next two. Though I guess he’s gonna need all he can get against Shigaraki/AFO. I just don’t see the series going on much longer tbh.

Looks like it's still getting good ratings, so I can't imagine it's getting cancelled. In fact it's only this last issue that it's fallen out of the top 5, and historically it's been in or near the top 5. Maybe we'll get the training montage in flashbacks, who knows.
Re: Boku No Hero Academia
To me, it feels like maybe he didn’t pace the series as well as he’d planned. In his mind, I bet he saw it running as long as Naruto, maybe even One Piece. And again, I could definitely get behind this being the end of the Academia part of the story, and moving onto Deku and company as full fledged hero’s; but Dekus already up there with the best of them in terms of strength so that seems unlikely.xandorxerxes wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 8:31 pmLooks like it's still getting good ratings, so I can't imagine it's getting cancelled. Re: Boku No Hero Academia
Since the author in question has already been defeated I'm not sure if this will still play out, but they did throw out the "quirk singularity theory" a while back. It's a backdoor explanation about why kids are so powerful, but it's also a literary setup for villain power creep. Theoretically there could also be a plot where new quirks are so powerful that they start causing lots of unintended harm when they develop, making heroes' life harder since the people in question are all innocent. It also makes me think that AFO/someone using AFO could remove all the quirks of the world (thus probably ending the series unless it's going to go another route...).Colep924 wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 2:38 pmTo me, it feels like maybe he didn’t pace the series as well as he’d planned. I’ve been thinking about it, what reason was given for the hero’s ambushing the doctor at the hospital? They couldn’t have thought of a better idea? It seems pretty stupid to potentially make a war zone out a hospital, and they showed up in full force, so clearly they were expecting a fight.
Re: Boku No Hero Academia
That was an epic looking quirk at the end

Essentially the hospital was his headquarters and they knew he was up to something. As soon as they started clearing out the civilians he'd be aware something was up, so they set up the operation to do both at once.Colep924 wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 2:33 pm I’ve been thinking about it, what reason was given for the hero’s ambushing the doctor at the hospital? Deku and All-Might were attacked, my hunch is that this isn't AFO's play. Also not sure who the guy she killed/maimed is? Maybe she needs additional bio-matter to make the bigger gun and he can regrow his limbs so he follows along with her or something.
That's a totally random thought and almost guaranteed to be wrong.
Re: Boku No Hero Academia
Just read the last two chapters and I’m into this. Was Midoriya cloning himself at the end?

Re: Boku No Hero Academia
I'd think the 2nd's power was some sort of cloning, but he calls it "Fa Jin." Apparently that's already a martial arts concept where you use explosive power. Deku technically did a version of it when he concentrated his power into a specific limb. As a guess, I'd say the "Fa Jin" was how he jumped through the building and caught her before she could notice (by jumping and exploding the power at his legs).
The "clones" I think are actually still a function of the smoke - it looks like they turned to wisps when shot, so if he pushed out puffs of smoke then used "Fa Jin" to get into the building and jump through it in the time it took the smoke clones to pop out and get shot that could be the combination they were talking about.
The things she shot all had his equipment on them so it looked like a clone, but in the last frame he's not wearing any of the equipment that was on them (his mask, cape, and backpack). That makes me think they weren't actually clones.

You were spot on, used clones made of smoke as a diversion, and Fa Jin makes him faster. I wonder what role Chisakis gonna play in the future. I don’t know why I think this, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Eri fixes his arms and he has a change of heart.

I wonder if Bakugo is still at UA, I can’t imagine he’d stay knowing Midoriya left
