Just finished Zombieland for the nostalgias -- still had me rolling
Rating: 8/10

Zombieland 2 -- had me cackling! not really an improvement on #1...but more of an update (considering they were 10 years apart)
Rating: 8/10

Don't think I watched part 2 yet.

All Day and all Night - on Netflix. Young black man commits a murder and has to deal with the consequences. Shows his life story and how he got to that point. Nothing new or special but I enjoyed it. I actually just watched it.

TV Shows too or new thread?

Watched Unbelievable, it's a show about finding a serial rapist. It's titled 'Unbelievable' as a double meaning I think - the main victim wasn't believed, and it's intended to spark outrage. It was... unbelievable in that I was incapable of believing people would consciously make the decisions they did. Like, I understand that you might have a cop who acts like one of the shitty cops did. You might have a nurse with no bedside manner. You might have idiot counselors who don't actually understand how to help or talk to you. You might have had parents who made you eat dog food so you were taken and in foster care all your life. You might have someone who thinks you don't act appropriately (in this case... TWO of the foster moms, i.e. all of the foster moms that were in the show). Those are all things that happen in real life... but all of them to the same person?

Then there were several inconsistencies that the only reason I can find for them is just to spark outrage in the viewer. My SO was getting mad while she watched and I had to remind her that they're only doing it this way to piss her off.

It does an OK job in that it shows an empathetic response too, how you can talk with and support someone, and things like why their behavior isn't logical. It had decent acting for the most part. A lot of people say it's a great show, but I don't really see it. I'd rather watch the Killing again.

Currently watching Double Tap...always awkward when a child actress goes from being a child to full fledged adult. It's like, "Oh...shit...now she has boobs. Awkward."

Molly's Game - Netflix movie about Molly Bloom. Movie is entertaining until you realize that it's all a giant "look at me" thing, then you regret spending your time on it. 3/10.

Alita Battle Angel

Good movie with a strong female lead. Also...I genuinely appreciate that for her to be strong...all of the supporting men didn't have to be incompetent oafs....The story was kinda predictable...but the special effects and visuals was on some avatar level (which makes sense consider James Cameron was involved)

Rating: 7/10. Enjoyable, but I wouldnt rewatch it

Except her love interest...that dude was so god damn annoying. I always joke that if androids get to that level human women are done...lol.

But I enjoyed it as for because she was strong, the men weren't all idiots and she was strong and feminine.

The Wrong Missy

An Adam Sandler movie with no Adam Sandler...but plenty of his juvenile humor
...nice little throwback to a simpler time, that made me chuckle quite a bit.....but still a stupid movie

Is that minus Jim Carrey? I felt he was channeling is earlier Ace Ventura style of physical acting.

A bit harsh for Sonic, it's a kids movie. Image you were 6 years old through 16 years old. You would have loved this movie more.

^^Jim Carrey was great, Sonic came around when Jim was at the prime of his career.

I think the sequel will be better too.

Jim Carrey was exactly what I'd expect from Jim Carrey. The problem is the character they created for Dr Robotnik is basically Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor from BvS. The genius, weird, quirky, nut.

Hard pass.

Parasite 7/10

Was a good movie, but didn’t come near the expectations I had for the movie based on the hype.
Acting and everything was very natural and the scenario wasn’t bad at all.
Don’t know how it got them oscars though.

Atonement

Kept popping up on lists as a crazy mind-fuck movie. Not really. But excellent acting and good storyline. Geezus that ending was a gut punch.

Umbrella Academy (Netflix)

Came out a while ago (Feb 2019), I'm just now getting around to it. 10 episodes long, probably should have been 5-7. Enjoyed the first 3-4, dragged a little in the middle, went cringe towards the end, and had a moment or two of "why would you do that?" and ended on a "Really?" Apparently Season 2 is coming out this month.

Some good acting, some not-good acting. Some decent CGI, some definitely not-decent CGI. 7 feels high (I can be stingy, adjust expectations accordingly), 6 feels low, so...

6.5/10
