Re: There we go
I know that you have been a fan of Overlord for a couple years now. I was never able to get into it for some reason. Overall I do like the storyline of person mysteriously gets transported to a different world and has powers.

If you're not watching The House of the Dragon, wtf is wrong with you?
Matt smith has owned this show since day 1, and last episode was his official coronation.
Seven hells what an episode.

Re: There we go
I figured that Matt Smith was gonna eat up the screen and be great in this show. I'll wait until the season is finished. One because that's how I want to roll and two is because this hasn't come to Japan yet, and my girlfriend doesn't understand English well enough to watch the show without Japanese subtitles.
Re: There we go
Ya he saved episode 3, actually episode 3 was my least fav episode so far with exception to that battle scene of course. I was arguing with my siblings, they seem to think episode 3 was the best so far.Cane_The9lives wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 6:33 pm If you're not watching The House of the Dragon, wtf is wrong with you?

Also LOTR: THE RINGS OF POWER >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> THE HOUSE O THE DRAGON IMHO!! (At this point in time)
If you guys aren't watching that, not even....If that show is not 1st on your things to do list on shows to watch get help. I am blessed to live this long to watch this. The mere thought that they thought they could take this long to make a LOTR series after the trilogy ended was absurd to me. I was dead wrong! Well worth the wait, blood, sweat, tears and MONEY went into this production and it's paying off so far.
Re: There we go
Did you read about the review bomming? Supposedly people are about said the show is multicultural. I guess people aren’t ready for brown and black hobbits and what not..

That's a very shallow and non-critical way to look at this whole situation. Way to boil down everything to "They just don't like black people" but okay.
Nothing about completely disregarding the world and characters that Tolkien created. The fact that the man was incredibly detailed in the way he presented his world and characters and how they openly just throw it out for their own convenience. Also that he specifically wanted to created a mythos for England when he conceived at wrote all of this.

Starting Better Call Saul - The Final Season
Re: There we go
Didn't read any reviews, I see nothing wrong with the black characters. Are we talking about LoTR or GoT or both?Digital Masta wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 8:51 amThat's a very shallow and non-critical way to look at this whole situation. I'm not a LoTR expert, but five seconds of research points out that in Appendix F of Return of the King, Tolkien explicitly states that elves are fair-skinned, and there are numerous times where he describes elves as having white/fair or pale skin. Now there were elves with dark hair, but never did he mention them having dark skin. Lots of golden hair, though.San Goku wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 11:06 amDidn't read any reviews, I see nothing wrong with the black characters. Tolkien does mention "swarthy" when describing some groups of people (not elves), which means dark-skinned, but that doesn't necessarily mean black or brown. It has a range, if I'm not mistaken.
The most common type of Hobbit was "browner" than other Hobbits, but that doesn't necessarily mean black. I mean, Southern Italians are browner than other Europeans. Due to my girlfriend loving the sun...she's browner than most Japanese...but she's not black.
The point is that the man was very descriptive regarding his world and the races of beings that inhabit it.
In regards to House of the Dragon, House Velaryon is of Valyrian heritage, the same as the Targaryens. Valyrians are known for their silver/blonde hair, purple eyes(sometimes other colors), pale skin...and dragons (but House Velaryon chose the sea as opposed to the sky). They often had otherworldly beauty because of it. In the book, Cersei meets with a bastard of the House of Velaryon, Aurane Waters, and she remarks on how he reminds her of Rhaegar in appearance.
Not only that, during this point in the story (House of the Dragon), after the Dance is over. One of the characters comes back from a long time at sea, having lost his whole crew. So he goes to the Summer Isles (basically GRRM's version of the Caribbean most likely) and picks up a crew full of black guys. One of the Targaryen princesses (I think...I can't remember) was terrified when she saw them all get off the ship because she had never seen black people before. And the majority of Westeros hadn't either. So it would make no sense for House Velayron to be black.

You sound like a racist to me
.. You are literally Hitler
Let them reimagine his work for a more modern, more enlightened audience
Tolkien and GRRM didn't know what they were doing when they described/created their worlds

Fair enough think you are right. With LoTR. Maybe if they made the elf half breed it would make sense that he has darker skin. Yes Elves like forever have always been blonde/white hair, pale skin and pointy ears.Digital Masta wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 2:31 pmI'm not a LoTR expert, but five seconds of research points out that in Appendix F of Return of the King, Tolkien explicitly states that elves are fair-skinned, and there are numerous times where he describes elves as having white/fair or pale skin. I wasn't aware of the diversity of GoT. With House Velaryon you can say they are more relatable to the Mediterranean sea so Greece, Turkey, Portugal, North Africa. So dark skin people maybe a possibility like you said but maybe not, could even be a mix of black.
I'm all for as much accuracy as possible.

Re: There we go
I'm the worst kind of employee
It's 247 pm... And I am sloshed at work.. Ok, OK... Tipsy
The job is like 2 miles from a new ABC store
.. So I went to get some samples... From the store 10 miles away
I do this regularly. Gonna chill out for the rest of the year
Also... Got another story about my wife that just blew my mind this past weekend.
