While I enjoy Bruce Faulconer's take of Dragonball, I still think Kikuchi's is far superior and fits better with what Dragonball is. Of course, the series and films were anchored by legend, Hironobu Kageyama's vocals and the controversial Kenji Yamamoto.

89 years old...just think about what this man lived through. He was around 14 years old when World War II ended, he experienced the occupation of Japan by America, the rebuilding of it into an international powerhouse, the bubble economy which led to the general malaise of current Japan. All the while he became one of Japan's demanded film and TV composers.
^^^This, all of this post an emphatic yes.
I don't think many people outside of japan-o-philes understand the break-neck, light speed pace at which the nation of japan and the society as a whole transformed. In just under a century they went from a landlocked country still clinging to the vestiges of feudalism after most civilized countries had abandoned it, to a global empire of formidable military strength; a fallen occupied nation that ultimately embraced a foreign democratic restructuring that created an economic dynamo effect unparalleled in modern history.

Japan is the crown jewel of westernization, and this warp speed transformation invariably had a lasting and profound impact on virtually every facet of Japanese society and culture; reflected even in the smallest minute aspects of said culture, down to even their entertainment products. Faulconers score, while technically impressive, didn't carry the same historical weight as kikuchi's.

Btw killa what do you think about what I call "third-person attractive" meaning while it may not do it for you, you can acknowledge that the person is objectively attractive. Just not your type. There are women out there that I totally understand why people find them attractive but they aren't for me.
I think Yumi has a cute face but that's it. I do like tall women though but tall and obese...nah.

At 5'11'' and her body type I think that's where the Dutch genes kicked in lol. I think she'd be very attractive at a healthy weight. There are plus-sized models that are of a reasonable weight but they just have more curves than a typical fashion model. She isn't one of them, she's just obese.

I get the whole plus-size model thing to an extent. You can have healthy models that are heavier than the typical fashion model however for the same reason that heroin chic from the 90s was poisonous for women, this is also bad. Think about it, she's celebrated for being very fat, her actual income depends on her being fat. It incentivizes her to stay at that weight when any doctor that actually cared about their patient would tell her she needs to lose significant weight. She actually risks losing her career if she were to slim down because:

-She risks excess skin issues at that weight
-If she does slim down w/o skin issues she is now in the same category as all the other tall, slim models, and the one thing that had her stand out (her weight) is gone meaning she is just one face in a sea of many similar-looking faces.
-Let's say she does decide to get healthier...the mob comes out and hates her because all the insecure fat bitches start complaining about how she's conforming to absurd beauty standards.

Also...I feel bad for the white parent in an interracial relationship. If your child reaches any kind of prominence at all your existence is completely erased and in many cases by your own children. You could even be the parent that raised the child w/o the non-white parent and it wouldn't matter.

oh no...I agree with 100% of what you just said

and there are countless examples of people [women] being upset about female celebrities either bouncing back after having a baby....or being upset that they have lost significant weight (Rebel Wilson and Adele come to mind almost immediately).

When Chris Evans, RDJ, Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth, or the original goat Hugh Jackman transformed for Hollywood roles....Strange that you don't see men up in arms

That's because men go, "Yo. How do I look like that?". Of course, you also get the whole "steroids" comment as well. Which is somewhat valid. I mean the amount of stress these guys are under in order to get to elite levels of physical aesthetic in a short amount of time is crazy. Of course, they are gonna have doctors monitoring their training and even possibly giving them things in order to speed up the process. But even with steroids you still have to lift the damn weight and do the work.

It's also about the role. Transforming for a superhero role versus transforming to meet beauty standards are perceived very differently despite both being valid reasons.

What DM mentioned too, the steroids - it's very easy to write off their success as "I could do it too if I wanted to take a bunch of steroids" even though a good majority of men couldn't (I don't actually have data to back that statement up), assuming they even wanted to.

Performance-enhancing drugs use is a highly secretive thing in Hollywood. There have been videos that go into how all these actors say "Chicken and broccoli plus training 6-hours a day every day" is what got them in shape and that's a load of crap. Especially given the short amount of time they did it in. They wouldn't physically be able to maintain that level of work unless they were given help, especially the older guys. This isn't all of them of course.

I'm not hatin', because I don't really see an issue with it but they can't ever be honest about it, unfortunately.

Also guys...here is a very interesting COVID quiz in regards to guessing when mask mandates and lockdowns came into play.

See how well you do.

Steroids help out significantly in recovery and bulk building. Still gotta work out a lot to become Thor, it's just steroids help out a lot in getting to that. the combination of wealth, so you can have a dietician/chef to prepare perfect meals for you, how your only job is to rest and work out, and the recovery brought by steroids allows these people to go from the machinist to batman beyond in under a year

What do you mean by keeping the physique? Most of these actors weren't incredibly out of shape before they started but they weren't in superhero mode either. They had "normal" bodies or they stayed in good shape overall and had to change to go into superhero mode. Hugh Jackman certainly didn't keep his peak physique (Days of Future Past is probably peak physique) afterwards but he's clearly a guy that stays in good shape but DoFP body was ungodlily shredded and very difficult to keep. The Rock keeps his physique all year round for the most part but he focuses in to achieve a certain look depending on the role (as he is doing now filming Black Adam). Plus his physique is part of his brand so he has to keep it a certain way all year round.

Most of them return to a "normal" physique afterwards, they don't tend to get incredibly out of shape unless it's specifically for a role. Jason Mamoa is a big dude overall and it was a year or two ago that people tried to body shame him for his "dad bod" because he doesn't maintain a Khal Drogo/Aquaman physique all year round. He just looked like a normal dude (that's very big because he's not small).

It all depends on what their body is like before they get a role, their age and how long they have to get in the shape they need to be. As I've said before, the steroids simply help get to the goal faster, they still had to bust their ass. Having a year to do it is very different from having 4-6 months. Especially at 30+years old. If they were 18 then that's different.

it is a lifestyle change
I've said before...I lost 80 lbs 2 years ago. (260 - 180)
I hurt myself and stopped the exercise (bad form really and overdoing it caused me to grind down the cartilage in my left shoulder)
I went to Germany for a month and gained 20 lbs back (180 - 200)

So now...I'm trying to find motivation to start it up again and lose 40 ish lbs (200 - 160)...but I keep finding excuses to start next week (work, baby, health, or a trip planned

...but pay me $1.3MM and I'll be black Superman in 6 months. Hell, pay me half of that and I'll do it.

I now have lifelong shoulder pain for the same reason (cartilage in my left shoulder has been ground down) but it's unclear why it happened but a different injury in my shoulder from when I was 15 may have been part of it.

So guys...I just got led down a rabbit hole. I am not active on twitch really at all so while I knew about twitch thots and simps I did not know that hottub streams were a thing and apparently Twitch has just demonitized the (apparent) largest female streamer a woman named Amouranth because of her hottub videos. I had no idea who this woman was but it led me down a rabbit hole of YouTubers that talk about these types and the simps that support them. I stumbled upon The Quartering's video about it and I was like, "Who is this woman?"

I knew twitch had fallen but fuck man, it's basically just a cam site now. I fully understand the rage that gamers (both male and female but especially male) who had been told their entire life how playing video games was stupid and a waste feel. I mean if you're 40 and under you were told that playing video games would amount to nothing. Then finally the internet allows you not only to build a community of people who enjoy what you enjoy but also to make money from it only for the thots to come running right in. It was inevitable I guess.

Further proof that western society is finished, my friends.

Nah, I'd say "Sex sells" means it's the same as always. I'm more amazed at how many people would throw money at them though. There's free porn on the internet (cue: Avenue Q). Even if you wanted more interaction just go to OnlyFans or some other camgirl website.

In addition to the "dad bod" pictures DM mentioned, there have been a couple of interviews with different actors that talk about how they do quick bulk-up routines after breaks between movies. Part of it is definitely a lifestyle change - having to exercise / eat well for months on end establishes some good habits - but all of the interviews talk about how they hate their diets and let it go a bit once filming is over.

There's not anything wrong with steroids either, I don't know why they have such an aversion to mentioning it (might also be a contract thing). To say it's just diet and exercise is completely disingenuous and sets unrealistic expectations for anyone trying to emulate them. Steroids also help them with and to avoid injuries.

I'd like to say I'd suffer through some super boring food and working out for hours a day for a few million dollars, but I'd be curious if I'd just say fuck it halfway through or not. I feel like I'd suffer through it and just whine the whole time. I REALLY don't want to bulk up though, lean muscle is just fine thanks.

Edit

Demi Lovato identifies as non-binary.... why did I need to see that at the bottom of my local Canadian news channel? I really hope people broadcast that I identify as super sayian-jin, been ssj for over 2 decades.

Edit

Told the wife I need to be called Goku, Superman is okay or my preferred term God. She rolled her eyes and walked away. Can you believe this bitch? Sayian-phob

2 things:

1: My wife got a job offer for a good amount of money. She's accepted and means we are moving 1.5 hours west. We plan to keep our current, paid for house - rent 1 year to learn the area...then either buy or build our next house for cash

2: youtube suggested the friends reunion special. I never watched the show..but know about it. I thought I must be drunk because those people look so plastic. They no longer look human. Seriously, all that money and WTF?

I never watched it either. I guess I'd seen a few episodes here and there and then clips of it on youtube. One thing that always stuck out to me was the fact that Friends existed in a weird universe where New York had no minorities. lol
