He's awesome. No denying it, but I just like Nakamura clean style more. I don't know, I'd still choose Nakamura over Tanaka, though by a small margine.

Would be awesome to see his work in Yozakura Quartet. Too bad it's only an OAD. Who knows how short/long it will be. I love it when Ryochimo does a series and calls up his friends to make WIN.

Hiroshi Tomioka MAD

Seems to work mostly for JC Staff & Bones though has done work for other studios too.

Masami Obari MAD

I just hope he brings some of his great talent to the new SRW anime... fingers crossed.

Dangaioh! lol, it has a good song though, Cross Fight!

Yeah the MAD is just of his mecha shows. I'm surprised he did some stuff for a modern show like Code Geass.

His Dragonar OPs are really awesome, that MAD has it in really low quality, but here's it in HD

Just read this off twitter:

Quote

Judging by an interview with director Masami Obari, he seems to be quite enthusiastic about his new 'Super Robot Wars' anime. He said that he'd gathered 2D mecha animation experts and he wanted as many mecha-loving animators as possible to participate. Obari himself directs/storyboarded episode 1. If they really managed to gathered some good people, maybe it won't be that bad after all.

Pretty cool opening. I never even heard of dragonar before lol. And here I thought that I saw a lot of anime. Wasn't this popular in the west? never saw this in video stores or television.

I don't think its been released in the west. Dragonar was made towards the end of the 80s, it was an attempt by Sunrise to create another smash hit like Gundam after ZZ Gundam. It didn't quite get the big success like Gundam managed but I hear it is well liked by most anime fans in Japan.

Yoshiyuki Ito and Kou Yoshinari ones I've seen, but that other animator is new to me. He's pretty good actually. It's just that he does standard scenes where nothing much happens. So he doesn't shine much. That FMA scene where that hand is trying to grab Scar was awesome.

And did you guys know, Mamoru Hosoda was originally going to direct Howls Moving Castle, but for some reason he left the project or got fired.

Too bad there's no animator info there. Now it's just a anime music video to me.

There's this documentary that aired in Japan recently, it focused on Yoshinori Kanada and all his works with lots of comments form many big animators who knew him well.

Here are screencaps from it:

I hope I can find a link to watch it, seems really cool.

i dunno if this counts as sakuga. there aren't any fight scenes (if that is a requirement) :X.

but "5 centimeters per second" has breathtaking animation. i really love the clarity, colors, and how the lighting looks so natural. the backgrounds have such attention to detail. this movie won several awards too

A little late, but I watched this a couple months ago, and I'm currently re-watching it now. I have to say I am completely blown away b how beautiful the art and animation are in this film. The art of the actual characters are a tad simple, but it still looks great, and they make even that look beautiful. I'm a big Shounen fan, so I'm not used to this whole "J-Drama" story type...but I still enjoy the movie throughly. If this ever gets any kind of release in the US, you can be sure I'll be picking it up.

Also, I'm addicted to that theme song "One more time, One More Chance".
